Hello Experts !!!

I am having problems with the monitor on my laptop. It would appear that is is about to stop working. So I have connected an external VDU to the laptop (the 15 pin type). It partially works in that I can open the linux terminals and web browser. However, when I try to open a word document it opens on the laptop VDU. I can still see a lighter image on the laptop VDU. Would anyone know how I can make the laptop totally recognise the new monitor. I had the same problem with my last laptop ( that eventually stopped working) which had the sceen damaged through being dropped. The other laptop accepted the plugged in VDU no problem and everything else worked. However, I was running XP on my last laptop.

Is there something to be cofigured. I have tried connecting a VDU for a PC and am now using my VDU for a sun box, however, same symptoms.

Any advice, please !!

Ok, forget this one. Have disconnected the monitor on the laptop and the plugged in monitor is working ok.
