View Full Version : [SOLVED] 10.04 no desktop images, no right-click

I am on ubuntu-desktop version 1.197. I am up to date with Update Manager. I've recently lost the right-click on the desktop as well as images in the Desktop folder being displayed on the desktop. I have found references to reinstalling ubuntu-desktop and starting nautilus, neither of which fixed the problem.

I need help with this.

Thank you,
Chuck

None of the fixes I located on google worked, nautilus was already running, dpkg-reconfigure ubuntu-desktop and aptitude install ubuntu-desktop did not fix. Ultimately, I flattened the system partition and reinstalled the whole O/S. Extreme, yes, but effective. I now have desktop icons and right-click again.

What this implies is that my user settings were not the cause. This is supported by the fact that a brand new user account experienced the same problem.
