Dash causes solid lock-up

12.1 recent install 32 bit. Hit super key Dash comes up but distorted and not usable. Then hard freeze follows. The install was done over a prior 12.1 install.

Any thoughts?

What are your system specs like cpu and ram ?
you can enter this into terminal to get info and paste here if you like.

AMD quad 4 64 bit, with 4 gigs of ram. The previous install of 12.1 did not have this problem but did lock seemingly randomly.
Now I get on a black screen "Nouveau GPU lock up, switching to Fbcom, fail to idle 1, 2 3, 4"
