All home files show up on Desktop!

I've recently installed 64bit Ubuntu 12.10 and using unity. For some reason all my home stuff(files and folders) are showing up on the Desktop as duplicates. If I delete them, it also deletes in home folders. Can anyone explain this, I don't want all that stuff on my desktop all the time, it's like my home folder is my desktop.

Can anyone help me with this?
