Hey, I'm not sure if you've heard of the Movember movement (http://movember.com)yet, but it's very popular here in Canada. The initiative helps to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues. It's main goal is the fight of prostate cancer worldwide - last year over $125 million was raised. By growing a moustache, telling friends about it, and asking them to donate to the cause you can make a huge impact too.

So to bring this cause worldwide, I thought the Ubuntu Community could take part. I've setup an Ubuntu network on the movember.com site http://ca.movember.com/team/673409 where people can pool together to see other ubuntu users and developers participating in this cause. By talking about it online we'll help spread this wonderful month-long cause to countries where the local media hasn't yet picked up on it. Let's get everyone on board!

Technically the rules are that you start the month with a clean shaven face. What really matters though is the donations to charity, so as long as you're helping the cause that way I won't complain about the first rule.

Did not know I was gonna sign up so I was not 'prepared', we just happened to be at the pub and the owner asked us to sign up so we did and paid our entry fee which goes to charity.

I'm actually quite disappointed at how few people seem to care about this great cause in this community. I expected a bit more charity involvement.

Dump most if not all the canned and processed food in your supermarket cart then you get rid of cancer.

Bollocks.

Best reasons to dump canned and processed food is taste and the environment, not health.

Nobody really knows conclusively how cancer starts in the body - otherwise I wouldn't need to raise money for this cause. Most of the research right now is going toward detection and prevention. Seriously though, I encourage people to sign up the to Ubuntu Network at movember.com so that a body of people are part of that group (even if you don't plan on raising a penny toward the cause this year). It will encourage others around the world to take part as well. http://ca.movember.com/mospace/network/Ubuntu
