I am having a problem with the Software Updater in Ubuntu 12.10. What a nightmare updating from 12.04 to 12.10. all the other things are fixed but when I run the Software Updater, after scanning many files I get this error.

W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad/gnome3-team/gnome3/ubuntu/dists/quantal/Release.gpg Something wicked happened resolving 'ppa.launchpad:http' (-5 - No address associated with hostname)
, W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad/gnome3-team/gnome3/ubuntu/dists/quantal/main/source/Sources Something wicked happened resolving 'ppa.launchpad:http' (-5 - No address associated with hostname)
, W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad/gnome3-team/gnome3/ubuntu/dists/quantal/main/binary-amd64/Packages Something wicked happened resolving 'ppa.launchpad:http' (-5 - No address associated with hostname)
, W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad/gnome3-team/gnome3/ubuntu/dists/quantal/main/binary-i386/Packages Something wicked happened resolving 'ppa.launchpad:http' (-5 - No address associated with hostname)
, W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad/gnome3-team/gnome3/ubuntu/dists/quantal/main/i18n/Translation-en Something wicked happened resolving 'ppa.launchpad:http' (-5 - No address associated with hostname)
, E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Any ideas?

Those URL's are trashed. You can post your sources.list if you would like to try to save them or you can just cut your losses and remove them.

In terminal enter:

cat /etc/apt/sources.list

Or to remove them:
