Just upgraded home desktop from 10.04 to 12.04.
I prefer to use classic interface and have wifi connection.
Is there something similar to gnome-netstatus-applet?

You are not alone in your dislike of unity desktop, but I can't make up my mind if it's just the applet you need or info on how to get the gnome 2 lookalike.

Here is the long thread about Classic gnome in 12.04. I am pretty sure the netstatus applet is available for it, but I am not logged into my 12.04 Classic gnome at the moment.
