recently my friend and i made the trek to the grave of jimi hendrix. check it check it my videos here (http://cs.georgefox.edu/~jdodson/videos.php) or just snag the file here (http://cs.georgefox.edu/~jdodson/videos/graveOfHendrix.ogg) . fwiw, thought i might share. btw it is an OGG Theora video, to hell with proprietary!

i am not paul, i am the other guy.

i edited it up in kino and ubuntu and got the video from my sony digital video camera. the quality is not the greatest because i wanted the file to be small. the original 1.2 gig video file looks much better.

It was cool to see Jimi's grave site.

You guys are pretty funny. Kind of like a toned down Wayne and Garth duo. I've actually downloaded some of your songs and listened. Funny stuff, especially "We Invented Rap Music".

And no, I'm not doing this on my own time. What a waste that would be. Company time, company time.....

Completely off-topic, but wouldn't it make sense of the OGG-Vorbis crew used different file extensions for sound and video? I guess I'm old-fashioned.

I couldn't read OOG media format on Window$ so I boot up Ubuntu live cd. Then when I click on the link it doesn't load.

EDIT: W00t! It's loading now.

EDIT: I downloaded VLC for Windows. Now I can watch OOG movie files. Why are some of your movies listed there in a proprietary file format (Windows Media)? You should convert them to OOG.

Long live FOSS file format :) I hope more people will use Kino or any other FOSS video editor and churn out OGG or other non-proprierty files.

because i made them before i was using gnu/linux solely. i could convert them to ogg, but i don't think i will for sometime. perhaps someday i might ogg encode them. for now they are a remembrance to a past i will not rekindle.

Converting from one compressed format to another also greatly decreases quality.
BFW89-- keep in mind you're still running a proprietary OS.

Anyway, that's freakin' awesome. The idea, not the movie itself (which I haven't watched yet ;))
I haven't listened to ALL that much Hendrix, but he was a god among ants. We guitar players can never achieve that kind of greatness.

Not really .OGG is just a container, just like .avi - relying on extentions is a dirty hack anyways.

i know, but to differentiate between a video and a song is a good thing. i know it is a container, but no one puts out an avi song so its not a fair comparison.

Great stuff.

Did you have any problems installing Kino with Ununtu. I tried (via apt-get) but could not get it to work.

Thanks
Colin
