Hangs after install on VMWare

I installed ubuntu-12.10-desktop-i386.iso into VMWare player 5.0.0
after the install, when it tried to reboot, it hung up with this message as last printed on screen:

Asking all remaining processes to terminate...

Is this some known issue?
(I still have it running, so I can test ideas...)

+1. I'm having this exact same issue. Ubuntu Desktop 13.04 i386 on VMware Player 5.0.2 build 1031769 x64 on Windows 7 x64.
