View Full Version : [SOLVED] Local Music File Preview Not Working

I upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit to 12.10 64-bit. When I right-click on a local music file listed in the Music lens to preview the music, I cannot play the file. If I search for other music files that are online for purchase, I can play them with no problem in preview mode.

This will occur whether I am in the "Home" lens or the "Music" lens.

Otherwise my installation has no other problems and I really like 12.10.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you

*Bump*

Can anyone help with this? From discussing this with others, it appears this may not happen on a clean install, only for upgrades. either way, I still am stuck without this feature.

Found the answer:

Go to the Music Lens, Select "Filter Results", Select "Sources", Select "Rhythmbox".

The previews work again. For those that might have uninstalled Rhythmbox, try selecting Banshee. If neither are installed, my guess is you have to have Rhythmbox [default music player for Ubuntu 12.10] installed in order for previews to work.

Previews only work thru RB so while you can use RB and or banshee in the music lens you can only preview files sourced by RB
