View Full Version : [ubuntu] Recuring Problem, Root Partition Runs Out Of Space

I've had a recurring problem since I've installed Ubuntu 12.04. The root partition seems to use all its available space and then I get error messages and some apps give me problems. I did not have this problem with previous versions of Ubuntu.

I use a separate partition for root. GParted shows my root partition as using 8.95G of 9.31G.

I've plenty of disk space so its not a problem to expand this partition to 20G or more, but before I do this I've a couple of questions.

Is there some known problem with Ubuntu 12.04 that uses up unused space in root and will fill up a partition of any size? If so, is there a fix?

Since this is the root partition, do I need to be cautious in ways other than how I would be if this were a non-system partition?

Thanks in advance.
