I recently downloaded the ISO for Ubuntu 12.10 and tried to burn the ISO image to a CD but the disk image is too big for a standard 700 Mb CD-R. I tried to burn the ISO image to a DVD but I kept getting a wrong disk error message.

Any suggestions???

I install mine via USB stick. I never tried today's ISO yet but have installed by USB in the Beta stages.

You need a 800MB CD to fit the 12.10 download onto.

I'm not sure why you are having problems burning the image to a DVD, I do this all the time with CD ISO's.
What software are you trying to use for burning?

I use Nero 7.5.7.0 for burning CD, DVD & Blu-Ray.

I was afraid that I'd have to purchase an 800 Mb CD for this.....

If you have a >1GB USB stick you can use Unetbootin to create a bootable USB.

Thanks for the replies....I guess I will have to purchase some 800 Mb discs then.

Also, Thanx for the tip on Unetbootin.

I'd suggest that you try again with a DVD and make sure you didn't pick up another CD by mistake. with a DVD it should be bullet proof.
good luck

I just used imgburn to write the 12.10 to a dvd. That didn't work when I tried to use Nero. The dvd seems to be working fine in installing quetzal.

Ubuntu's built in Startup Disk Creator is really good as well.
