Unity & Compiz

I'm having real troubles with stuttery lag with compiz. I am running 12.04 64-bit, current nvidia drivers 304.48 and geforce 560m graphics card. When i have vertical sync turned on in ccsm the windows and effects stutter when i move them around. When i have vertical sync turned off windows are tearing when i move them around. Also the unity launcher gets buggy, when opening and closing things it lags and doesn't indicate that a window has been closed, and i am not able to open the window again, home folder etc, before the lag disappears.

I have also tried nvidia 504.55 drivers with same issues :(

NVidia drivers are notoriously buggy. Personal experience (PERSONAL so it may only work for me) the default Nouveau works better.

If you find the buggy Unity 3D unbearable, use Unity 2D.
