i am newly entered into the open source and yesterday i successfully installed ubuntu 12.04. so i like to play a song mean-while the error message shown as "plugin is needed". i searched and get answer as sudo apt-get install command. But i have doubt about this command, how it will install through installation DVD or through online? kindly report me

What type of song are you trying to play (.mp3, .aac, etc)? Also, what application are you trying to use to play this type of file?

The command:

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
will download and install all of the codecs you should need to play your music.

i tried to play .mp3 format songs. plugin get install by internet or s/w cd's
