Do you pronounce the word "ornery" with the first 'r', or "onery" without the 'r' and a short 'o' sound like awnry?

I grew up pronouncing it "onery", but I know that's not really the right way.

Mostly not at all. Bit of an obscure word round my parts.

Because I'm an Aussie, I pronounce it the same as Yosemite Sam, you dog-blasted, ornery, no-account, long-eared varmint.

That's just how all Americans talk, isn't it?

Because I am a Turk, I haven't even heard of the word "ornery" :D

You might be pronouncing it that way because of its similarity to "onerous".

I don't pronounce ornery often (as I am not a native speaker) but when I do it's "ornery".

I say it with a silent E (orn-ree), dunno if thats correct- sounds correct..

So i guess from my point of view "ornery" is correct.

Had to look for the meaning in the dictionary (not a native speaker). I guess I would pronounce it "or-neh-ree".

(English pronunciation may be confusing sometimes, when one is not familiar with certain words :)).

Ornery - I figure they put all those letters in for a reason, might as well use them.

Orrnerry. When I speak English, I often speak with an German accent although I am native to Sweden.
