Is there any easy way to just have the old Gnome desktop instead of the Unity Desktop as I find the Unity Sidebar to cluttered especially on the 10.2" screen of my Netbook and I've gone over to OpenSuse due to the Unity Desktop but want to come back to Ubuntu as it's easier to Install than OpenSuse?

Your best bet is to use Xubuntu or Lubuntu if you want to use an officially supported Ubuntu distribution with panels and stuff.

Also, there's GNOME Classic which is identical to GNOME 2. Istall gnome-panel:

sudo apt-get install gnome-panel

If you like the new Gnome, there's a new distro I think called Gnubutu coming out.

1) Right-click on icon-unpin from launcher.

2) "Appearance"-> make launcher smaller.
