Hi All,
I just upgraded from 10.04 to 12.04. In 10.04 I was able to turn off Compiz. My computer ran much better with it off. I'm running an HP Pavilion ZD 7000A, Pentium 4 / 3.06 laptop with only 1 gig of RAM. Yes it's old but it still works. This is why I don't want Compiz running. I also think that my Libre Office is crashing because it's running out of memory due to Compiz. Is there any way to simply turn Compiz off?
Thanks

Thanks for your response, but I'm not certain what you're referring to. When I log out, I have two options for logging back in, my account and guest. Could you please clarify. Thanks

Just select 'Ubuntu 2D' from the button on the right of your username. :)
