Hello everybody
I had a 250 GB hard disk with Ubuntu 11.10 installed on it. Thereafter I installed on it 12.04 and updated. The hard disk stopped working.
Then I purchased new 500 GB HD. On it I installed Precis Pangolin which is working well. But when I try to access my earlier 250 GB hard disk I get the following error message.

Unable to mount 246 GB Filesystem

Error mounting: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb1,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so

My older hard disk contains lot of educational and office data and beautifull memorable moments/photos/videos. Please help me recover my data

Install testdisk /photorec (on your 500GB 12.04 install); it's in the repos of 12.04
