I am an absolute beginner, and here is my Q2:
What the Dash Home facility actually is and how I can use it initially?
It would be most convenient to me to obtain an Answer directly to my e-mail account please.

Dash home is like the windows key/start menu. Easy way to access lots of handy stuff.

Thank you very much guys!
Due to your As I have realized that my Dash Home simply doesn't work.
So
HOW TO MAKE IT WORKING?
I.e., searching what I want, e.g., Terminal.

What's it doing? What happens when you click the icon?

Post the screenshot of your desktop when you press Windows/Super key.

I know this thread is old, but the last few posts sound familiar to me. When I first installed Ubuntu it worked well. The Dash Home worked, the Software Center worked. However after a couple weeks, both of them stopped working. I was able to find the solution for fixing the Software Center, (rm -r ~/.cache/software-center) but so far no luck fixing the Dash Home. I can open the search line, but it never comes up with results.

Hi Roman,
It a closure loop apparently:
having no Dash, I am unable to get a terminal,
but without the terminal I can't put the command
rm -r ~/.cache/software-center
which you recommend.
So what?
Cheers
Gregory

ctrl+alt+t will pull up a terminal, alt+f2 also pulls up a run dialogue,

A screenshot would seriously help, I don't have the foggiest idea of what the problem you are describing is exactly. I'm sure I'm not alone and it's very hard to help someone when you can't figure out what it is they are experienceing exactly.
