Hi,

Does one need to install any thing else besides Libre Office Writer, Office Calc & Office Impress?

Hi Yezinki,

It's very difficult to answer your question "Does one need to install any thing else besides Libre Office Writer, Office Calc & Office Impress?" unless we know what you want to use the OS for.

If all you need are documents, spreadsheets and presentations then yes, that's all you need. If you want to ability to create and manilulate databases or create graphics like posters then you will need Libre Base and Draw respectively.

Like with any OS, the software you have installed will be dependant on your requirement(s).

What about MS Office? Do you want to install it in Ubuntu or do you want compatibility? If it's the former than take a look at the guide below (you need a valid MS Office license of course) but if it's the latter then Libre will suite you just fine as it's compatible with MS office (except for Access databases - they aren't).

There are also other programs like Google Docs (now drive) that are compatible with MS Office that can be run inside Ubuntu.
