I just went to the Skype website to download the client... when I noticed that there is a 1.3 beta version available for download, something I've never seen before.

I downloaded it and tryed it, but I wouldnt call it beta... its more of an Alpha quality client, but its still there.

Now I'm woundering... has this been here for a long time? or has Skype finaly come around to upgrading the Linux client?

What do you mean by "its more of an Alpha quality client"? Do you not find it works well, because I have it since yesterday and it's superb. It does everything the previous version did, but better, and now that it uses alsa for sound it doesn't have all the problems of the last version with sound device not working.

I, for one think it is great!

Hm... well, I supose it varies.
It was unable to make calls on my computer (unlike the other version), and some text looked... odd...

Alsa support is great though! and it seems to start faster...
