I have a desktop running 12.04 with Unity. (I like Unity!).
My problem is that Xsane does not detect my Epson scanner when I switch it on, with its USB connection. I run Windows XP under VBox and it instantly detects the scanner. Then after closing down XP and Vbox, Xsane does detect the scanner and I can use Xsane and gscan2pdf as well.
This is very frustrating because gscan2pdf does a much better OCR read than the Windows program. Why doesn't the OS detect the scanner in the first place?
