launching eclipse

I get the problem when launching eclipse, that JRE cannot be found. I've added


export PATH=$PATH:/path/to/jre/bin

and in the terminal I can execute
java

but launching eclipse from Gnome still poses problem.

Any ideas?

Please post the contents of your eclipse installation dir. It sounds like your eclipse.ini is not setup correctly, post that too.
