I'm having a bit of a conundrum with 12.04. I put it on a CD to install it on my new system and tossed it in. Checked out the trial bit and everything seemed to be ok, it looked great.
So I do the actual install, restart, and... I get a purple screen.

If the trial works then why will it not boot properly? :???:

'Edit'- Forgot to say its the 64bit version I'm trying to use.

System is this:

CPU: Phenom II x4
Mobo: Gigabyte 990FXA
Graphics: Sapphire Radeon HD 6950
HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda
RAM: 8Gb

Oh, fresh meat by the way. Hey all!):P

Alright, just tried the 32-bit Ubuntu 12.04.1 and I still had the same point of hang at start-up, even though the Try from CD works just fine.

fleshy Bits; Hi ! Welcome to the forum .

Try this and see if you boot :
Bring up the boot options menu : As soon as the bios screen clears depress any key (supposedly - I use shift key) ..function keys are available to boot up with alternate parameters ..initially I suggest you try "nomodeset". Other helps are available.

An appropriate driver can be installed on your system after installation is completed.
