Hi,
just upgraded fron 10.04 LTS to 12.04.1 LTS and I have a problem with the (minimalistic) approach for setting the system wide proxy settings.
I travel a lot and work in different environments each requiring different proxy settings with and without authenticitation as well as at home where I have no proxy.
In 10.04 LTS, I used to be able to save the configurations in the proxy-setting GUI and just select the one I needed and apply it system wide. For sure, some things were not fully integrated (apt-get, synaptic, IDLE (pyhton), ...) for which I then manually had to set it right (or just reboot e.g. for IDLE) if needed.
So my problem is more than just switching on and off a proxy. Any alternative or hope that a proxy setting tool becomes available again to do this ?
OK, I read some install squid and swith the squid conf file : but really ? "Unbuntu for human beings" should not be like that, no ?
Thanks
