Hi all
I have just decided to try Ubuntu and there are a few things I need to know about installing it that I cannot seem to find in the documentation.
I'm currently running Windows XP SP3 on an AMD machine. I have a 500GB SATA drive that has the system and most of my data but also have a 100GB SATA drive that I have wiped clean.
I'm thinking that I should install Ubuntu on this clean drive to run alongside Windows.
The questions I have are:
1. Should I reformat the drive before installing Ubuntu on it or just let the installer do it?
2. While running Ubuntu, will I be able to access data on the larger drive, which is formatted by Windows. In particular, will I be able to open, edit and save images, documents, etc?
3. I'll obviously quickly run out of space on the smaller drive, will I later be able to create Ubuntu partitions on the other drive? Will I need to do this or will I just be able to create folders and save files on the windows disk?
Thanks in advance.
