Hi,

I'm new to Ubuntu and am unable to install the 12.04 release from CD since it locks on the splash screen on my HP DV6000 laptop. It hangs on the broadcom b43 wireless device and is asking to update.

I have followed the steps at http://clusterbleep.net/blog/2012/05/09/ubuntu-12-04-splash-screen-lockup-with-livecd/ and did not see a way to make the edit recommended on the non-server install CD.

I also followed the steps at wireless.kernel.org for the b43 device firmware update by using the 11 release that is already installed.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

You need to press any key right after the BIOS screen to see the boot menu of the installation CD. That's the time the CD starts booting, and you might see some text at the top of the screen or just a purple background. Hitting any key should take you to the language selection, and then the boot menu.
