just come back to 12.04lts
in the older versions of ubuntu there was areas internet sound and video office games, where all off the game files were kept and so on all your dvd burners were in music
is there a way of setting something like this in 12.04

you want an applications menu, the classic style which existed:

If you open the Dash applications lens by clicking super+a and then click filter you will be able to search for Games. And you will then see icons for all the games that are installed. That same filter process will search for Internet related applications, Office related applications. I see 13 filter options and a means to limit the search to local storage or the internet.

Wait a minute. I am using 12.10. There is a big difference between Unity in 12.04 and in 12.10. I may not be of much help. I sure that 12.04 has a music lens. Try super+M.

If you open dash and select the second symbol in the bottom the categories will appear on the right side .

This isn't working for me, maybe because i have ubuntu CE ?
