View Full Version : [SOLVED] Ubuntu excessive ads on youtube, not windows?

Comparing several machines with windows 7 to the Ubuntu 12:04 machines I have noticed that nearly every youtube video I pull up on Ubuntu machines get those damnable ads that say wait 5,4,3,2,1 to skip ad at the bottom right corner of the video. This happens well over 90% of the time on Ubuntu and about 5%of the time on the win 7 machines.

This is so annoying to get nearly 100% ads on my linux machines.

Is there something I can do to prevent this or at least lower the ads on the Ubuntu machines?

Use MiniTube and you will not see the ads. Just my 2 cents.

okay but this does not answer why Ubuntu is getting hammered with ads and windows is not. I cleaned all my machines with bleach bit and still the same ratio.

Are you using the same browser with the same extensions on both operating systems?

You may have found the solution!!!

I just added adblock plus and the ads stopped. Thanks very much...

It may be the lack of adblock plus on the Ubuntu machines...
