I am using Ubuntu 12.04, dual boot, with Unity as the desktop environment. HUD, rather than find programs, finds bookmarks, phrases in my paste manager, etc.. If, for example, I hit the Alt key and, when HUD pops up, type in "gimp," gimp does not appear. Instead, I see a number of Firefox bookmarks. Searching in Dash, by contrast, works perfectly.

I am not quite sure what to post. I tried resetting unity with the command unity --reset. That did not change the behavior of HUD.

Any suggestions.

That's how it works. Instead of Alt+F or Alt+S you open HUD (Alt) and search the menus that way.

Thanks. I misunderstood what it does. I have used Unity for quite a while without ever using HUD until now. I am reading up on how to use it. Thanks.
