Solved. The size is 48. Just had to try all of them.

I've just installed the Faenza theme, and I really like what the icons look like. I'd like to slightly edit a few of them though, to change the way they appear in the Unity launcher.

I went into usr/share/icons/Faenza/apps, and there were several folders with different sized icons (16, 22, 24, 32, 48, 64, 96, scalable), and I edited one of the 64 sized ones as it looked close to the icon size in the Unity launcher.

I used GIMP, made my changes, saved, and changed the name to the same name of the old icon (also created a backup of the old one). I reloaded the theme, but the icon was still looked the same as the old one in the launcher.

So, anyone have any idea which icon size I'm supposed to edit for it to change the icon in the launcher?

I would try scalable.
