Hey everybody! :)

I've seen computer systems that have the wires matching to the color of the motherboard or just colored wires. They are very neat and look very organized. I'd like to know how I can achieve that same result. To show you what I'm talking about, check out the http://rog.asus.com/151892012/news/august-forum-pc-mods-roundup/ .

Some have red wires, some have green, some white..etc.

I don't think it's that. I think I've found it. I think it's individually sleeved cables. Now, the only thing to find out is if I'm right and where do I get these from?

It would be fun to do it myself, but I just don't have the time. I have to find a retailer in the US. Also, do you know if any braided cables will work with any PSU or is it specific?

If your PSU isn't modular (the cables are permanently attached) then you have no option but to braid them yourself. This will most likely void the warranty on your PSU as you will need to take the cover off.

If your PSU does have modular cables then I think you will need to purchase cables that match the sockets on your specific PSU (I could be wrong because I've only seen one modular PSU in real life and that's mine, I don't think that there's a standard although different PSU's from the same manufacturer will probably use the same connectors).

After another quick look at the site I linked to earlier they don't sell cables for modular PSU's, only power extension and SATA cables.

I'm sure it would be easy enough to find a local modding company that you could send your PSU to though.

I've got an OCZ ZT Series 750W Fully Modular PSU and it doesn't seem that OCZ plan to offer braided cables for their PSU. However, it looks like Corsair does. I've recently purchased this PSU for my first build so I'll have to see if I still have enough time to exchange it for a Corsair PSU or another PSU that does offer braided cables. Although, the idea of me doing it myself is tempting.

My Antec TruePower New 650W comes with black braiding as standard, so I haven't bothered with it on my current rig.

I'd say that braiding is a fantastic way of getting into modding, it's easy and relatively risk free (compared to slicing up your case anyway).
The braid and heatshrink are cheap and you don't need any expensive tools.

Good cable management is one of the best skills to learn when building your own system, as well as improving the aesthetics it does no end of good for your case airflow (and therefore temperature).

Start off with braiding a few SATA cables to get into the swing of things as these can be done quickly and are easy to replace if you mess up. You can braid a SATA cable in a few minutes but a full PSU braiding will take you hours.

There are loads of good braiding resources out there, check the links I posted earlier as well as YouTube.

My antec cabling looked awesome until a mouse ate some of one of them (savage story). Less attractive now.... but still pleasing.

Thank you all for the links and suggestions. I'm going to try to braid an old PSU I have laying around to get started. Wish me luck!
