I have a well-aged Ubuntu installation which I don't want to lose for a complete re-installation. When I installed Ubuntu, I chose not to encrypt home directories. I have now changed my mind and want to encrypt.
I'm comfortable with cryptsetup in and of itself, but I want to copy as closely as possible the whole setup Ubuntu does when it sets up encrypted /home's during installation. In particular: When and how is the partition opened/decrypted, when and how is it mounted, and so on.
I can figure out a way to do it myself, but I want to do it the same way vanilla Ubuntu does it. But I can't find much info on Ubuntu's setup of /home encryption, only info on how to make that choice during installation.
