I just installed on a M35x Toshiba laptop and now the password that I created will not work. I also have to enter it twice.
Should I re-install or is there some other solution?

When are you entering your password?

If it is when you are using console - you will not "see" input.

Just enter password anyway and press enter - :p

Also bear in mind that version 8.04 reached end-of-life status well over a year ago and as such no longer receives any support or security updates.

You would be well advised to use a later version that is still being supported.
