When working in *nix I prefer a clean and simple look with just a small amount of eye-candy, like transparent windows. xfce4-terminal works great for me but I would like to get rid of the scroll bar since it is a feature I have no use for in the terminal.

I run the terminal with:

xfce4-terminal --hide-menubar --hide-borders --hide-toolbars

This however doe not achieve the truly clean look I would like. Any suggestions?

Install package overlay-scrollbar. It will hide the scrollbar unless you hover over it. It will also apply to Thunar and a number of other GTK apps.

Cheers!

Another way is to just disable scrollbars in Terminal itself:
Edit, Preferences, General.
