Hi,

Is there a smartphone (on a major US carrier) that works well with Linux, preferrably Ubuntu? I have a Motorola Bravo and it's okay (at best). Not native interface.

Thanks,
CH

As far as I know, you're not going to get a major US phone that will run Ubuntu natively. Until Ubuntu for Android comes out, the best you're going to get will be to hack your Android phone to run Ubuntu on top of Android. Any powerful Android phone with root access can be hacked to do that.

Here's a tutorial explaining how to do it. The downsides are that it's a pain in the backside, it's risky, and it's not native so your phone isn't really made to do that.

is it the low level you are interested in? is debian close enough? if so you could look at the maemo phones from nokia, n900 and n9. Or you could look at the openmoko GTA04 project which can run debian.
