I'm assuming that I have a problem I need to fix. I update my computer every couple months or so, and as soon as I do I get problems with my boot. I end up spending an hour or so in console. I usually just end up loading grub to pull out an earlier version.

This past update was the low-res problem other people had.

before that I think it had some thing to do with xserver.

Am I missing something? I have to be missing something.

thanks folks

You didn't tell us what version of Ubuntu you are using. If it's not 10.04 or 12.04, you did not install a "long-term support" version. It's possible your version has reached end-of-life which means updates are not being maintained for it any longer. Check here (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases).

Also if you installed any software from "PPAs" they may not be maintained any longer either. Those are not official repositories and may fall out of date if the maintainer loses interest.

thanks for checking in, I have 12.04

I don't think it's a PPA issue.

The only PPA I have is spotify.
