Though i have use previous older version of ubuntu before but it has been quite a while

As far as i knew the above Ubuntu 64bit is compatible with AMD 64 bit processor but could it be use on Intel processor as well?

Yes, it works on either AMD or Intel.

AMD64 doesn't actually refer to AMD processor. It's roughly because AMD first launched 64-bit processor so the name ends with AMD64. It works on x86_64 platform regardless of AMD or INTEL.

LTS = Long Term Support

12.04 will be supported with bug fixes and security patches for 5 years.
