How do I install this deconfig editor?

deconf (and the like) is installed by default with the system (via ubuntu-desktop)

you can check it with synaptic

installed it but won't function cant configure......

run this from the command line:

dconf-editor

does it open? any error messages?

a box shows with no information in it when I enter dconf-editor into terminal. I want to edit touchpad configuration, research led me to dconf, not sure what to do if nothing shows in any files. Beginner Linux user, all help appreciated.

sudo dconf-editor

If installed and opening the dconf editor should have a menu on the left side
