I just wanted to post for the record that I installed 3.6-rc4 linux kernel on a stock Ubuntu 12.04 LTS install. Everything works well and I noticed an overall speed increase.

I did this after looking at an article on www.phoronix.com comparing several 3.x kernel versions.

Hardware:

Intel i5 3570
Asrock extreme4 z77
16GB ram
Nvidia GTX 670
Seagate 1.5TB 7200rpm sata

It would have been beneficial for potential readers to at least post the hardware specs (kind of like the phoronix guy).

Thanks for the tip. I just upgraded my kernel to 3.6 RC4 as well, it seems to have fixed my WiFi issue. Seems a little speedier too.
