Not sure whats so difficult about finding screen shots of Ubuntu 12.04, but anyways, here they are:

Compare your screen with the Classic Session screen shots.

The screen shots didn't really show anything. Doing more research shows thats Firefox menu should be in top panel and hides until you hover over it. The Firefox title bar and close buttons are up there but not the menu. Same with any other application. See attached file. I'm pretty sure I have Unity3D.

You have the Unity desktop as you should have it. The global menu is the top panel.

What version of Firefox do you have? On my 12.04 install I have version 15 and the Firefox top panel with the menu options is indeed now in the top panel of the desktop on the left.

A lot of work has been done to integrate applications into the Unity desktop. It may just be that you have a version of Firefox that is not yet fully integrated. Perhaps this is caused by the Firefox theme that you have chosen. I just have the default look.

I have Firefox 15. And I have changed the theme back to the default. Still no go. All other applications are the same way. Is there a setting somewhere that I can change.
