I'm going to set up a headless ubuntu server. I already have a socket 939 amd64 3000+, a gig of ram, and a 200gig Hard drive, im going to buy an asus micro atx mobo with onboard nvidia graphics, and a slim micro atx case, but the only one on newegg right now has a 170W PSU. will this be enough to run this system

ASUS MicroATX Mobo
AMD Athlon64 3000+
2x512mb Corsair
120GB Western Digital
Old 4x DVD-ROM Drive

I need an answer fast, as I want to order the parts now so they can get here before the weekend. Im in college and only home on the weekends, so i want to be able to put it together this weekend.

The other cases have 200 or 300W PSU, which should be plenty =/

read the post. i want to buy a slim atx case to save space, but the only one on newegg comes with a 170W PSU, will that be enough, or should i buy another PSU, and what would fit in it?

170w is just at the draw limit for the setup you posted. I have almost the same setup, and it needed 300 to give head room. your best bet is to research this, and not rush just to get it done. that being said i will let someone else try to help you.
