Hi,

Have installed a fresh/new version of Ubuntu 12.04, being on 10.04 beforehand. The navigation has no task bar at the bottom as before, and the menu navigation is difficult, with many previous options now 'missing'.

Also, the biggest problem is to search for file/s. Nautilus doesn't have an option to search for the following ..

a 'word' in a specific folder or a phrase/word in a file/s

I can't find out how to use the command line either.

Some use Unity for a while and end up liking it, but it has a learning curve. I reverted to gnome-panel

gnome3 classic similar to old gnome2
sudo apt-get install gnome-panel
On login screen click on cog-wheel/star and choose

Open the Ubuntu Software Centre and search for ‘gnome-panel’, hit install and log out.

oldfred,
I have multiple users set up on my box. Would I as admin have to set up the gnome3 classic for each of them separately, or would an install of gnome as admin on the box fix it for all of them?
Thx.

Thanks for the info, oldfred. I did install kubuntu-desktop, so now it is all KDE, VERY much easier than Unity. I like it.
