I have a Ubuntu 10.04 Live USB (with persistent storage) which works fine for a HDD-less, browser only laptop.
The laptop shuts down occasionally so I searched and came for a fix (http://adf.ly/278189/int/http://gnometechblog.weebly.com/1/post/2012/03/linux-kernel-power-issue-overheat-workaround.html) about overheating that involves changing GRUB configuration. It is actually a change in the kernel parameters while booting.
However "sudo update-grub" command fails and I suspect the Live CD uses something else than GRUB. Is there a way to apply this fix in my case?
