I'm so pretentious... considering myself a decent Linuxer...
Well, now that I met Unity it's back to square one.

Brand new 12.04, true Unity based ( swore there won't be any chasing of the gnome classic package ).

And I have a very simple question:

In Unity how the Hell do I find - say - all Multimedia applications?

(In Gnome Classic, there was a convenient menu for that - not saying it was better - just saying I cannot find the equivalent in Unity)

I'm sure the answer must be obvious - sorry for inconvenience.

-- Edit --

Just saw the Ubuntu software center - Oops. But one cannot start the app from there :-(

You mean Super. Or click on the "Ubuntu button". ;)

This frustrated me about Unity as well. When I wanted to browse installed games for example, I would type "games" in the search bar....

g-a-m, showed 4 games
g-a-m-e, only 1
g-a-m-e-s, still only 1.

Any of the menu based DEs I tried listed 17 games installed.

My advice? Try Xfce (http://xfce.org/)
