Hello,
We are setting up CafeUbuntu (link (http://z13.invisionfree.com/cafeubuntu/index.php?)). And ubuntumail.co.uk will be a subproject, it will be an email service for Ubuntu users.

I was wondering who in the UK would want a @ubuntumail.co.uk or @ubuntu-mail.co.uk email address. Please vote Yes if you are interested, I am doing this for a rough number guide.

Thanks, Rowan.

I'd like an ubuntu e-mail but I want a .com or .net. I'm in the US and people look at me funny when I say .co.uk. I used to use an e-mail service based out of the uk because it was free. Then AIM came out with free e-mail and there it was.

Being that it is not known who is running the mailserver, and what policies are in place ect. I would have to pass. there is still alot that needs to be put out in the open if users are going to trust this ubuntu-mail idea being talked about.

Did you talk with Canonical about this? See http://www.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/TrademarkPolicy

Just so that there won't be any problems later.

It would be nice to have a free mail service that works with "evolution".... I'd be interested, obviously if privacy of use is guaranteed.

Of course, the only person that would be able to access your emails would be you.
I do not yet know whether it will work in Evolution but I see no reason why it shouldn't.

Can I just point out, this thread was meant for people in the UK.

Any indication on finance yet or is it still a wait and see situation.

rowanparker

Well, so far it will be a free service and I may add a premium service with more features, space and so on. If I do add a premium service it will no more than £15 a year.

This seems great, I am from UK and would not mind a free ubuntumail.co.uk email address.

Should I PM you to discuss it mate?

rowanparker

I like to have an email address that I can speak to someone and they can remember. Saying "ooh boon too mail dot coe dot you kay" with my username in front of it is a tough one. Ubuntu is kindof a silly word to say in front of non-computer users to begin with, as much as I love it. So is Linux.
