I've been trying to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my old desktop for quite some time, it all goes well until about 3/4 into the installation it says something along the lines of "a non-recoverable error occurred" and then it goes into the trial desktop mode.
I have used the cd on my current desktop and it works fine.

The specs:
Intel Pentium III 800
L800R stock board
Intel 810 graphics
512mb PC133
Dell stock psu / Smurf G3 psu

I thought it could be a few things:
-video card
-not enough ram
-bad psu

I think the psu might be bad because i used it to test a computer i got from an auction for free and it wouldn't turn on so i threw the psu out because it booted fine with another. I currently have a powermac psu in it and ordered a 6 pin adapter so it will post, so i can't test the system atm.

I thought it might also be overheating because i lost the cpu fan a long time ago and recently moved it into a different case which only has 1 fan in it so it gets pretty hot.

Any help?
