I need help. Similar to another failed thread I recently started, I'm hoping to get a new thread going on the subject of running the original Stronghold (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stronghold_%282001_video_game%29) in the more modern versions of Linux/wine. Right now my hang-up is the install. No matter what settings for the install I use - using PlayOnLinux, running manually in wine, using the real CD, using an iso, different versions of wine, different emulated versions of Windows - about a third of the way through the install it asks me for "disk0 that contains data3.cab".
Now, I have the original game disk - as in, bought at the store, legit owned, etc. - and it's a one-disk game. What's more, there is no data3.cab anywhere on the disk. Naturally, I can't give the installer what it wants, and it exits.
I'm aware from here (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=520) that there are multiple versions of the game (not seeing it now but I recall a reference to a gold edition, and there's an xpac entitled "Stronghold: Crusader"). I'm working with the original vanilla version.
I *have* done some google searching BUT it's very possible that I have missed something, since "Stronghold" is a lot harder to search than something like Icewind Dale which won't have any off-topic hits.
Any advice/hints are appreciated. I'd like to end with (hopefully) a new thread that has a modern walkthrough on how to run this game on Linux, since other such threads are 6+ years old.
