Hi all,
I am porting some scripts to Ubuntu from RHEL5, there is a kill function for a process named bootpd. I'm trying to wrap my mind around the use of the bootpd, I think its used to signal the NMR device. I searched for bootpd in the package manager and got hits from DHCP3-client / server & etherboot.

But I am not really sure how bootpd works, or any similar processes in ubuntu. Can someone tell me about the importance of bootpd and of any equivalent in Ubuntu?
