ive heard talk about an ubuntu phone os is this a possibility? will there be gnome,kde,and unity? What about apps? it may take time but id like to see it happen

Well, there's Ubuntu for android in the works.

BUT, I do believe that we will see KDE and maybe Gnome reach out into the sphere. Maybe even other full on distros that will just simply run on former android devices.

I mean, HW wise most smartphones today are better than the laptops that came out ~3-4 years ago and at this rate of development I don't think it's too far out to see some form of new platform rise.

The question is however, will it blend? (no pun intended)

ive seen ubuntus site that says you can dock you phone and use as a computer but i mean a full blow android and ios competitor

i think i could settle for a ubuntu os that lays over android that would be cool
